Flame: releasing captives from slavery in the sex trade.
Mary (not her real name) has been part of Antioch for over 10 years and 4 years ago she was sent to India to work in the slums of a large city. Since then she has been running a home for girls rescued from the sex trade. This year she has been released from the day to day running of the home so she can focus on establishing a community in the city’s red light district, initially building relationships and also providing medical care to the girls and women.
There has been significant attention given to the issue of slavery over recent years and Karen Lowe is currently focusing on creative writing that will deal with some of the issues of exploitation and suffering that surround this modern day slavery in the hope that it will inspire men and women to stand see this particular slavery broken.
