Antioch – Church alive for our neighbour, the nation, the nations
Antioch’s mission statement is “church alive for our neighbour, the nation, the nations” and for many years we have expressed our passion for God’s presence and the poor through community involvement and a wide range of activities and events. We have sought to only do what we see the Father doing and to follow where the finger of God is pointing.
As we move forward we are continuing to ask God to strengthen and release fresh faith to us as a community. We have been in a transition for some time now and are moving towards a less structured, more organic and natural way of connecting. We seek to be intentional in seeing relationships broaden and deepen, building a community that expresses the love of God to each other and to those who don’t know Him yet.
Community is built by the small acts of kindness that express love and belonging, creating a safe place for vulnerability and reality in friendship. Inviting people over for coffee or meals is a simple way to do this – there is healing to be found around our dinner tables for those who have never experienced what it means to be part of a family.
We also value the Word and prayer and encourage people to gather in 2-3’s to read the word and pray for salvations, healings and miracles amongst families, friends, neighbours and work colleagues
It is from these natural everyday connections with people and Jesus that our corporate gatherings are enriched with a variety of stories, testimonies, worship and experiences that build faith and release grace to follow Jesus. These are the joy moments that strengthen us for the journey and the challenges we face.
The streams that have been established have developed over a number of years and spring from individual passion and pursuit of God’s call on people’s lives. The value of a safe community which seeks to release people into their destiny cannot be underestimated. It is a priceless gem in the midst of an ever darkening culture, positioned to release the light of the Gospel through multi-faceted expressions of life that transforms lives, cultures, atmospheres and communities.
